Maintained and Administrated 4 Microsoft Windows 2000 Servers, and 3 Microsoft Exchange 5.5 Servers. Managed  M.S. Exchange systems configurations, accounts and email databases.  Identified necessary upgrades and enhancements for systems, and instituted server system hardware/software upgrades. Implemented system security requirements.  Provided solutions for user and system requirements, developed and documented appropriate operation procedures,   policies, and corrected problems.  Managed the battalions helpdesk call center on a 400+ user network.  Identified necessary upgrades and enhancement for systems.  Monitored, supervised and performed with several technical teams during the correction of customer trouble calls, hardware maintenance and repair, and on-site user training visits.  Acted as independent IT during Operation Iraqi Freedom for NMCB 74.  Established and maintained network of 125 unclassified users and 75 classified users while forward deployed in Fallujah, Iraq. Also designated the Classified Materials System Custodian during Operation Iraqi Freedom, and retained the job during remaining time in the battalion.  Assigned as NMCB 74 Webmaster, and was instrumental in the creation and administration of the official battalion website (http://www.seabee.navy.mil/index.cfm/1491), and the creation of the official website of the Naval Construction Force (www.seabee.navy.mil ).  Established server system backup and restore procedures. Created Standard Operation Procedures to enhance network availability and provide training aids to personnel Supervised and instructed on the use and proper management of network systems. Network Systems Administrator, USS Kitty Hawk (CV63)

 

Responsible for the operation, administration and maintenance of USS Kitty Hawk's IT21 Information System consisting of 8 Microsoft NT 4.0 Servers and 600 workstations as well as 8 Xylan ATM Switches. Managed 3 Microsoft Exchange 5.5 Mail servers supporting more than 3,000 individual accounts, and over 2,000 workstations.  Assistant Administrator of 8 UNIX servers and 4 Cisco 4000 network routers. Network Systems Engineer during entire phase of network upgrade from Novell 3.12 with 350 customers to 8 Microsoft NT 4.0 servers and 3 Microsoft Exchange 5.5 servers with 1,500 workstations and over 3,000 customers.  Continued position for 3 years following upgrade.  Responsible for configuration changes to the Cisco 4000 Router used to permit all connectivity external to Kitty Hawk and embarked commands. Responsible for over 3,000 customers in the supply and aviation maintenance databases.  Performed server systems hardware/software configuration upgrades. Trained and managed 16 assistant administrators on network server management, hardware and software maintenance, and troubleshooting. Trained and supervised 42 personnel on network maintenance and to correct on site customer trouble calls as well as provide customer assistance via the ships Automated Help Desk system.
